My brother recently got married. And while his bride was planning away for Saturday night’s gorgeous affair, my mom and I tackled Friday night’s rehearsal dinner! The bride and groom chose to have their wedding weekend just up the road in Athens (a fabulous town for a wedding!) and selected one of their favorite restaurants, farm 255 for the rehearsal dinner.

farm 255. A great raw space, but a little on the dark side.

While we knew we wanted to bring lots of color into the event space, we didn’t want the invitations to be too bright. We chose a classic navy and white motif for the rehearsal dinner and fun navy polka dots for the welcome party invitation.

See how the rehearsal dinner invitation coordinates with the welcome party invitation? And, don’t forget pretty stamps! Pretty stamps really pull everything together and complete the look of the invitations.

farm 255 has a great open space, but it is mostly empty and a little on the dark side once the sun goes down. We also were not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling so we really had to focus on bringing color and pattern to the tablescape. To brighten the tables we used colorful flowers, bright white and navy table runners, and lots of tea candles.

Cocktail hour! This photo was taken before the sun went down, so there is ample light here.

We wanted to have a family style dinner to go along with the “farm to table” restaurant and to encourage conversation. So we pushed four-top tables together to form long farm tables. We had a really hard time sourcing tablecloths because the tables were so long and varied in length. We came up with the idea of using a fun navy and white fabric to make long table runners. To complete the look we found a bright lime green ribbon to trim the edges.

The best part? We plan on cutting down the runners and turning them into place mats!

To anchor the tables, we purchased inexpensive kraft paper from Amazon. Kraft paper might not work for every event, but it was perfect for this rustic and raw space. The table runners and flowers really popped off the paper.

Another look at the gorgeous colorful flowers and the fun table runners.

To complete the look we ordered personalized lime green cocktail napkins and used lime green escort cards (which I forgot to photograph). The key is not to get too matchy-matchy, but have a consistent feel throughout the evening.

We didn’t plan it, but even the chilled pea soup matched!
